1. Acceptance and eligibility
These Terms govern your use of Authenticator and its related support pages. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms, the applicable Apple Standard EULA, Apple Media Services terms, and applicable law. If you do not agree, do not use the app. You must be legally able to enter into these Terms or use the app with authorization from a parent or guardian.
2. Permitted use
You may use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, subject to Apple’s Usage Rules, for lawful personal or organizational security purposes. You must not use the app to violate law, infringe rights, compromise systems or accounts, distribute malware, bypass access controls, or interfere with the app or Apple services.
3. Your data and responsibilities
You control the authentication accounts, secret keys, credentials, notes, icons, and backup files you enter or import. You are responsible for having permission to use that information and for maintaining independent recovery methods for every account protected by two-factor authentication.
Generated codes depend on the correctness of the imported secret, algorithm, counter, device time, and third-party service. The app is a credential-management tool, not a guarantee of account access. Keep recovery codes and alternative access methods outside the app.
4. Security credentials and recovery
You are responsible for your device passcode, app PIN, sync password, backup passwords, and account recovery materials. Cosine Studio cannot access your local vault, recover the separate sync password, or decrypt an exported backup without its password. Do not send secrets, passwords, one-time codes, or backup files to support.
5. Optional iCloud Sync
Authenticator Pro may provide optional encrypted sync using the user’s private Apple CloudKit database. Availability depends on an active Pro entitlement, a supported iCloud account, Apple services, network conditions, and retention of the separate sync password. Turning sync off stops synchronization but does not delete existing local or iCloud records.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
In-app purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Current product availability, localized prices, billing periods, free-trial eligibility, renewal terms, taxes, and refunds are presented by Apple. Auto-renewable subscriptions and the non-consumable lifetime product are further governed by our Subscription and Purchase Terms.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains the current app and website data practices. It forms part of these Terms.
8. Third-party services and rights
The app interoperates with Apple services and may display names or icons associated with third-party services solely to help identify accounts. Those parties do not sponsor or endorse Authenticator unless expressly stated. Your use of third-party accounts and services remains subject to their terms.
9. Updates and availability
We may provide updates, security fixes, feature changes, or discontinue parts of the app. Apple services, device capabilities, regional availability, and external authentication standards may change independently. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
10. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the app and support site are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, or successful recovery of any account or data. Mandatory consumer rights are not excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cosine Studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of account access, credentials, codes, data, revenue, or business arising from use of or inability to use the app. Any limitation applies only to the extent permitted by applicable consumer law.
12. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time. Rights under these Terms end if you materially violate them. Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute provisions—continue to apply.
13. Governing law and consumer rights
These Terms are governed by applicable law and disputes will be resolved by a court or forum with competent jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory rights available under the law where you live.
14. Apple’s role
Cosine Studio, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content, maintenance, support, and product claims, except for Apple’s obligations under its own agreements. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the applicable app license and may enforce it as provided by that license.
15. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms and will revise the date above. Contact xqing4049@gmail.com with questions or claims concerning the app. Do not include secrets or passwords.
